ADJUSTING TO YOUR NEW NORMAL

As a two-time cancer survivor, I have firsthand experience with the profound challenges that come with adapting to the changes caused by cancer treatment. The journey is marked by physical, emotional, and psychological transformations that require resilience, courage, and a deep well of inner strength. From grappling with the side effects of treatment to navigating the emotional landscape of fear and hope, every step presents its unique obstacles. Yet, through it all, I've learned to embrace change as an integral part of the healing process and to view each challenge as an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. Dealing with cancer treatment and the changes it brings can be difficult, but there are things you can do to make it easier.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY
Maintaining physical strength is an essential aspect of overall wellness for cancer patients. As a personal trainer serving this community, I have seen firsthand the struggles that patients face in regaining their strength after a cancer diagnosis. Don't be hard on yourself for not being the same as you were before cancer. You made it through treatment, which alone proves your strength. Take care of your body by eating well and getting enough rest. This will help keep your energy levels up and reduce some of the side effects of cancer treatment.
TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF

Remember that self-care is not selfish but essential to maintaining physical and emotional health. During and after treatment, make time for yourself and engage in activities that help you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. This could include walking, practicing mindfulness, or simply treating yourself to something you enjoy. Remember, you deserve to take care of yourself!
MAKE A ROUTINE
Focus on maintaining a sense of regularity in your daily routine as much as possible. Continue enjoying your favorite activities, hobbies, and time with loved ones. Even small steps, such as maintaining your usual sleep routine or eating healthily, can make a big difference in your well-being. Remember, cancer treatment is just a part of your life journey. You can stay strong and face challenges head-on by keeping a sense of normalcy.
BE HONEST

Cancer treatment can be a difficult journey, both physically and emotionally. Communicate your feelings with those who care about you and ask for support when needed. Remember that you are not alone and that many people have gone through similar experiences and come out stronger on the other side.
LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR FUTURE
It's natural to feel overwhelmed and uncertain when going through cancer treatment, but it's essential to stay positive and look forward to the future. Many people have successfully overcome cancer, and with the right treatment and support, you can too. Take care of yourself physically and emotionally, stay connected with your loved ones, and seek resources to help you navigate this journey. Remember that you are strong and capable and that there is a bright future waiting for you beyond cancer.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF

Remember to be a good friend to yourself during your wellness journey. This means treating yourself with the same kindness and compassion that you would offer a close friend. Prioritize self-care and self-love, and take time to nourish both your body and your mind. Remember that you are important and deserving of care and support and that your wellness journey is a valuable and personal one.
